Mistake with Lye

by Angela
(East Texas)

I accidentally read the scale wrong when looking at the amount needed for water. The recipe has less water added for the lye amount needed. Is the soap still safe?

I sent a question earlier and tried to upload photos. It said
that the photos were too large. I was wondering if you would still get the questions I submitted with it.

Thank you!

Answer:

The soap will probably be fine. Just as long as your lye had enough water to dissolve in. You will find that less water results in a quicker trace as well.

When formulating a recipe for soap you can use varying amounts of water. I typically use between 30 - 38%.

I believe I got your previous question about soap curls/marbling and have now answered it...sorry but there were no pictures.
