Looking for recipe for basic white soap.

by Diana

I would like to make a base recipe to which I can add eo, fragrance and color.

Everything I have tried is not as white as I want.

Answer:

The colour of a soap base is determined by the colour of the ingredients you use in it.

If none of my recipes are white enough for you, you could try creating one of your own.

Try using ingredients like coconut, shea butter, lard and tallow which are quite white. Liquid oils that are very pale in colour are your best bet as well.

Remember also that essential oils will colour your soap base too so you will need to stick to ones that are clear in colour. Be sure to avoid fragrance oils that don't discolour the soap.

Good luck,
Cathy
