How do I thicken up my homemade conditioner?

by Amanda

My conditioner is too thin, can I add something to thicken it up? If so, what, and how much per 8 oz of conditioner would I add??

Answer:

Sorry but I specialize in cold process soap making and have never made a conditioner before.

I will post your question just in case one of our readers has an answer for you.

Conditioner Thickeners

You could try using about 1-1/4 tsp guar gum, although it's generally the first thing in a conditioner recipe, so I'm not sure how it would integrate with an existing conditioner. You could also try gelatin, which has strengthening properties, but again, I'm not totally sure how it would integrate with an existing conditioner.
