Goat's milk soap problem.

by Erica Pruitt

I added half my lye to 6 cups of room temp goats milk, started to turn orange, then it curdled, then it solidified!!! Can I save it? I need help with an answer.

Answer:

Sorry but it sounds to me like the goat's milk has burnt and is not salvagable.

When adding lye directly to any milk base, you need to freeze the milk until it is slushy. This keeps the temperature down so that the milk is less likely to burn.
