Yellow soap

by Anonymous

Some of the bars of a batch of lye soap have turned yellow. Why?

Answer:

It's hard to say...there are a few reasons why soap may turn yellow.

Old soap can turn colour as it ages. Soap has a shelf life and will turn rancid after time especially if it is not stored properly.

Soap made with old oils will turn "off" sooner than soap made with fresh oils.

Improperly stored soap...for optimum shelf life, soap should be stored in a cool, dark, dry location.
