Working with Jojoba beads

by Tracy

I'm trying Jojoba beads in my M & P soaps, but they suspend to the top of the soap, bottom after they are released from the molds. What can I do to mix them in evenly? Thanx for any help!

Answer:

In order to properly suspend objects like Jojoba beads and botanicals allow the soap base to cool a little before adding them.

Gently keep the soap in motion to prevent a skin forming but don't mix too hard that it causes any foaming action. As the soap thickens slightly the beads should hold in suspension.

Another option is to buy a soap base specifically designed for suspending. Southern Soapers carries this base. It is made by Stepheson.

I highly recommend purchasing some of Debbie Chialtas' Soapylove books. She has a vast array of fantastic projects for to try.

Good luck,
Cathy
