Why would I receive a flat loofah?

I order loofah to make soaps with, and as a filler for baskets. It came flat, are we supposed to soak it to make it rise and round?

Answer:

Not sure why the loofah would be flat other than for space saving purposes during shipping.

I would definitely try soaking it in warm water to see if that will plump the sponge up.

Good luck,
Cathy

flat loofah

The process of milking and de-seeding the loofah may have a lot to do with it being flat, and for shipping too. It should plump up with a good warm water soak.
Loofah is very easy to grow and has lovely yellow flowers that open in the early morning. Of course it is more work, but I really get excited about making soap when the loofah are ready for harvest!
