What oil can be safely substituted for olive oil in a soap recipe

by Anonymous

If a recipe calls for olive oil and I need to substitute which oil would we use.

Answer:

Many oils can easily be substituted for Olive Oil in a soap making recipe.

Canola, sunflower, sweet almond, avocado, grapeseed and rice bran are just a few choices. Pretty much any oil that is high in conditioning fatty acids.

Just remember....if you change an oil in a recipe, you must run that recipe through a soap calculator in order to get the new amount of sodium hydroxide needed. You can't just switch oils without doing this step.

Good luck!
