What fragrance ratio for your Creamy Body Mousse do you suggest?

I LOVE this recipe! I have used it many times but find I always get the fragrance ratio wrong. It's either too light or too much and it thins out my cream.

How much fragrance/or essential oil would you suggest for this recipe?

And is there an ingredient you could suggest I can add if my mousse does become too thin, something to thicken it up?

Answer:

I know what you mean Heather....I too find that it's easy to over or under scent.

The problem is that each fragrance is different in that some are strong smelling while others are weak. This of course means that there isn't a specific amount to add. Some scents will require more to be added than others.

The best rule of thumb is to add a very small amount at a time. Walk away for a while to clear your nose and then see if the mousse needs more scent.

Remember too that completely cooled mousse can still have scent added to it without any problem.

As for adding something to thicken up the mousse....you could add more shea butter but you need to be careful to not add it hot since the heat could kill the preservative. Be warned that adding more oil could throw off the balance of the mousse making it feel oily.

Hope that helps,
Cathy
