The colour of basic soap recipe

by Celia
(Tromso, Norway)

I have just followed your Basic Soap Recipe exactly (without additives - I want to get the technique down pat first before I spend my money on essential oils) - the picture you have of yours is a lovely off-white colour (my desired colour) - mine is a strong mustard yellow colour (I am assuming from the Palm oil). So how do you get it to be white?

Answer:

I'm guessing you used African Palm oil...the orange one? And perhaps Extra virgin Olive oil or pomace oil?

I simply use regular grade olive oil, coconut oil and the creamy white palm oil. That's it...nothing else.

If you want to make it whiter, try adding in some titanium dioxide.
