Stuck in pvc pipe mold

by Sue Magness

I'm having trouble removing the soap from the 3" pvc mold. Any tricks to make the soap release?

Answer:
Try putting the mold in the freezer for a 1/2 hour. Let the soap mold sit out for about 5 minutes (until it sweats a little) and then try pushing the soap out with a soup can.

Place the can on the floor and sit the soap on top and push. That should crack the seal that's formed between the soap and the mold.

Lining a pipe mold is the best thing to do for next time. And always leave enough of the liner to grip so you can pull it out.

Good luck,
Cathy

Round Molds Can Be A Bear!
by: Jane

I've found that putting round pvc and other types of molds, expecially the plastic pre-cast ones, in the freezer for a short period helps the soap release easier.

release from pvc pipe
by: Lindsey

We put ours in the freezer and had to use a rubber mallet and beat the hell out of it. We finally made our own log molds.

Put a soup can (we used a glass coke bottle) and mallet hammer all around the top to start moving the pipe down. It take two people to do this. Good luck
