Coffee Soap Recipe


Coffee Soap is great for the kitchen.

A soap recipe for coffee lovers. This soap not only looks great but smells wonderful. It pulls double duty when it comes to kitchen work...helping to remove odors like onion and garlic. The addition of shea butter, patchouli and benzoin also help with keeping those dishpan hands soft and supple.

Base Ingredients Grams Ounces Percentage
Shea Butter 90 gr. 3.175 oz. 10%
Coconut Oil 270 gr. 9.524 oz. 30%
Olive Oil 270 gr. 9.524 oz. 30%
Castor Oil 90 gr. 3.175 oz. 10%
Palm Oil 90 gr. 3.175 oz. 10%
Lard 90 gr. 3.175 oz. 10%
Distilled Water 326.07 gr. 11.502 oz.  
Lye 123.801 gr. 4.367 oz.  

Water as % of Oils = 36.23
Super Fat/Discount = 8%

Optional Additives Measurement
Grapefruit Seed Extract 1 tsp. (5 ml)
Ginger E/O 1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml)
Cinnamon E/O 1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml)
Clove E/O 1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml)
Patchouli E/O 1/4 tsp. (1.25 ml)
Sweet Orange E/O 4 tsp. (20 ml)
Benzoin E/O 1/8 tsp. (.625 ml)
Finely Ground Oatmeal 2 Tbsp (30 ml)
Rosemary Extract 1/4 tsp. (1.25 ml)
Cocoa Powder 1 tsp. (5 ml)
Finely ground coffee 1 Tbsp. (15 ml)
Confectioners Sugar 1 tsp. (5 ml)
Orris Root Powder 1 tsp. (5 ml)

Follow the instructions on The Process page to make this homemade soap. Add Grapefruit Seed Extract to the base oils.

Once you've reached a thin trace pour about 1 cup of base into a container to use as a topper on the soap. Add the cocoa powder, coffee, orris root, sugar and oatmeal and thoroughly mix. Add the essential oils, rosemary extract and the grated soap bits...work very fast or it may cease. Pour into the mold and top with the plain soap that was put aside.

Insulate the soap and cut when cooled.
