A Soap Recipe Made With
Creamy Coconut Milk

Coconut Milk Soap

I'm in love with this soap recipe! Creamy coconut milk, moisturizing cocoa butter, avocado and apricot kernel oils are combined to make a luxury soap that sounds good enough to eat.

This soap recipe is 'palm free' and contains lard but if you want a vegan bar you could substitute shea butter, mango butter or palm oil (be sure to run the recipe through the lye calculator again before making).

Base Ingredients Grams Ounces Percentage
Cocoa Butter 90 gr. 3.175 oz. 10%

For basic instructions on how to make homemade soap, read The Process page and then follow the directions below to make Coconut Milk Soap.

  • Weigh out water and remove 1/4 cup. Heat the water in the microwave and add the coconut milk powder, titanium dioxide, orris root and icing sugar. Mix well and place in a sealed jar.

  • Combine the Ultramarine Blue (1/16) with the Green Oxide making sure all clumps are removed. Put in a ramikin and put aside.

  • Put a small amount of Jade Mica and Ultramarine Blue in a small jar. Stretch a piece of panyhose over the top and secure with an elastic. This will allow you to sprinkle a line between the two layers. Alternatively you could use an old salt shaker.

  • Place essential oils and Rosemary Extract into a small sealed jar.

  • Prepare the soap ribbons and place all additives into the oven to keep warm.

  • Weigh out the lye and add to the remaining water. Continue the soap making process as usual until a medium trace is reached.

  • Add warmed and thoroughly combined coconut milk mixture to the medium traced soap and blend well.

  • Pour off about 2 cups of base into a container and put aside. Add the Ultramarine Blue and Green Oxide powders to the main base and mix well.

  • Blend the essential oils into the main base and add the soap ribbons. The base should be creamy and fairly thick by now. Pour the whole mixture into your prepared mold.

  • Tap the mold on the counter to remove any air bubbles. Sprinkle a light layer of the mica mix over the main base. Too much and the top will not stick.

  • Mix up the plain soap that was put aside until it is quite thick. Pour or dollop it onto the mica layer and roughly spread out.

  • Put the soap to rest as usual and cut when cooled.

Congradulations, you're finished making this great coconut milk soap recipe!
