Shampoo Bar

by Rebecca
(USA)

I am in search of the perfect shampoo bar recipe. I have tried some and am just not happy with how they leave my hair feeling. It feels like my hair is drier and not as clean. Do you or anyone out there have a great recipe that will leave hair shiny and clean? (If it incorporates palm kernel oil that would be even better since I have some that needs to be used up before it goes rancid)

Thanks for all you do with your site. It is so comforting to know there is a network out there that we can ask questions of.

Answer:

I don't currently have a shampoo bar recipe at the moment.

I will post your question in case one of our readers has one to share.

Good luck,
Cathy

Shampoo bar recepie
by: Jojo

Basic Shampoo Bar. I found this recepie in Mother Earth News a few months back.
4oz castor oil
2oz jojoba oil
4oz sunflower oil
3oz palm oil
1 oz coco butter
8oz coconut oil
8oz distilled water
3 oz lye
1/2 to 1oz essential oil at trace
This shampoo takes about 4 days to harden enough to cut into bars, but check often.

Shampoo bar recepie

I am collecting all the ingredients, all's I need is the Palm Oil, which I will get this week. I don't like to use Palm Oil ,because of it's reputation of ruining the rainforests, also I have to buy 20 + oz. when all I need is a little bit. I would suggest that you go to motherearthnews.com, type in shampoo bar in the search box and read the article. There are ways to customize the recipe for blond or dark hair.
I am very anxious to try this and see no reason why it woulden't work. Jojo
