Refined/Unrefined Oils & deoderized oils

by Angela
(East Texas)

I was considering using coconut oil purchased at my local grocery store. I prefer to use organic, unrefined oils and don't want to cut corners, but would like to save some money at the same time. Will my soap still have the same cleansing & antimicrobial qualities if I don't use pure unrefined oils?

Answer:

To the best of my knowledge, the soap will be pretty much the same in terms of use and appearance. I think that using refined or unrefined is purely a matter of individual preferences.

Oils are refined to remove impurities, odours and discolouration. Some people like the oils the way they are and others prefer the oils "cleaned up".
