Preservatives

I am looking for a preservative for use in solid lotion bars. I currently use Vitamin E in my soaps and lip balms and lotion bars but it doesn't seem to be cutting it.

Any reccomendations would be helpful. I found Germaben II and Phenonip - any idea which is better?

Hello Rebecca,

I use Optiphen Plus as my preservative of choice but there are many that are just fine to use. Check out this page for more options.

Unfortunately, I don't know which of the two you mentioned is better but here is a link to a brochure about Phenonip that might be of use.
