Palm Oil and Palm Oil Substitutes
by Pat
(Orlando)
I am having a terrible time finding palm oil locally. Do you have any suggestions? What other fats or oils can I substitute?
Answer:There are quite a few options to use in place of palm oil in soap making recipes.
Check out my
"Soap Making Oils" page and scroll down below the table of oils to the heading labelled "Formulating a Recipe". You'll find a detailed description on how I formulate recipes and information on which oils perform which functions in the soap making process.
Palm oil substitutes can be found under the heading "Love That Creamy Lather".
Most soap making suppliers carry Palm oil as well and for a long list of options visit my
Suppliers page. Most suppliers charge regular postal rates to ship.
If you prefer to pick up the oil, you can purchase the it from
Florida Suncoast Soapworks which is about 2 hours from Orlando. Information on picking up orders can be found on their
Frequently Asked Questions page.
Pointe Verda Soap Shoppe also sells Palm oil and they are 2.5 hours away in Jacksonville. They too have info on picking up orders on their
FAQ page.
Good luck,
Cathy
