Orris Root curiosity

I have found your site so interesting and have learnt a lot, thank you.. I do have a question about Orris Root and that is why do you add it to many of your soaps? Can it be added to any recipe or just some?

I have lots of the stuff but have never thought to add it to soaps.

Answer:

I use orris root in some of my recipes because it is great for 'fixing' a scent to the soap.

Some essential oils and fragrance oils last longer and are stronger than others so the orris root gives a little boost to those that don't have much staying power.

Orris root

Just curious. Can orris root do the opposite in some soap recipes? I have a recipe that I have made over and over again, one of my favorites. I added the orris root powder and it seems that the scent is decreased, almost nonexistent, and I changed nothing else, but added orris root to the recipe.

Orris Root and Colour

Oh now thats interesting, I do like citrus type EO, but they don't last long, so I might try it and see how it goes, does it change the colour of the soap?
