Oil percentage

What will be the result of the soap if I only use 90% oils instead of 100%.

Answer:

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking if the recipe calls for 100 grams of oil and you only use 90 grams of that oil what will happen?

If you also use the full amount of lye listed in the recipe you will have lye heavy soap.

If you do not have enough oil for any recipe listed, you only need to run the ingredients through a lye calculator using the amounts you have. You will then get the correct amount of lye to use.

It is very important to use the correct amount of lye needed to saponify the oils in any soap recipe. Ignoring this can easily result in a soap that is either very caustic to the skin or is a grease bar.

A lye calculator is a soap makers best friend. I cannot suggest strongly enough how important it is to know how to use one.
