I am making a batch of soap. Using 30% coconut, 30% palm, and 40% Olive. I now also want to add castor and hemp or castor and sweet almond. The last two oils..would I subtract from the amount of olive to add them in? Thanks

Answer:

Here are a few examples that would work:

Coconut - 30%
Palm - 25%
Olive - 30%
Castor - 5%
Hemp - 10%
-----------------

Coconut - 25%
Palm - 25%
Olive - 30%
Castor - 5%
Hemp - 15%
-----------------

Coconut - 30%
Palm - 30%
Olive - 25%
Castor - 5%
Hemp - 10%
-----------------

You don't have to take from the olive oil. You can substitute any oil but I try to keep the ratios somewhere around the 30/30/40 rule because I like the soap that results from these amounts.

The second example uses more of a 25/25/50 rule and would be good as well.

Good luck,
Cathy
