Oakmoss absolute is extracted from Evernia prunastri, a lichen that often grows on oak trees.

A few of Oakmoss Absolute's qualities are as follows:

- has anti-septic and fixative properties.

- said to be uplifting and calming.

- used as a perfume fixative and as a base note in many fragrances.

- best avoided during pregnancy and is sometimes the cause of a fragrance allergy.

- is a thick liquid with a dark brown color and has a deep, sweet earthy scent.

- blends nicely with almost all essential oils.
