Melt and pour with lye?

by DANIEL
(LYNDEN, WA U.S.)

I WANT TO START EXPERIMENTING WITH GLYCERINE MELT AND POUR SOAPMAKING.

QUESTION- DO I NEED LYE FOR THE GLYCERINE MIX AND MELT PROCESS?

QUESTION 2- CAN I MIX BEESWAX AND GOATSMILK IN WITH THE GLYCERINE? IF SO WHAT PERCENTAGES OF EACH TO VOLUME?

Answer:

Daniel,

Glycerin Melt and Pour soap is actually premade soap. It has already gone through the stage where lye is needed.

All you have to do with melt and pour soap is chop it up into small cubes, melt it in the microwave, add the the colour you want, the scent you want and pour it into your molds to cool.

It can be more complicated if you want to get really creative with it but you don't have to.

As for if you can add beeswax and goatsmilk to melt and pour soap....I have no idea! Sorry, but my expertise is more with the cold process soap making. I do know that you can by the melt and pour soap premade with beeswax or goats milk in it already.
