Lye not dissolving

I used softened water - will that effect my lye water mix? It does not look dissolved, there are chunks in my water.

Answer:

Sometimes there are hard, white flakes in the lye beads that take forever to dissolve. I usually try to crush them with the back of my plastic spoon until they are very small and then keep stirring until they disappear.

I try to do this when I first mix the lye and water. It seems to be easier while the lye water is very hot.
