Lye can be purchased at Lows?

I heard that there is a lye that can be purchased in-expensively at one's local lows or home depot. What is it called?

I'm in Ohio and I have never found 100% lye at Lowes or Home Depot. I order mine through my neighborhood mom and pop hardware store. Unfortunately, they are becoming a dying breed.

You might try ordering direct from Red Devil or Rooto. Also, The Chemistry Store and Bramble Berry sells lye online. Good luck!

Hi,

There's lye to be had at Lowes. It's usually sold as drain cleaner. We found some under the name "Roebic". CHECK THE LABEL--a few are 100% lye, many are not! And you certainly don't want anything else they'd put in a drain cleaner.
