Lemongrass Essential Oil



Lemongrass essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the Cymbopogon flexuosus, an aromatic perennial grass grown in Asia and India.

The grass if often used to flavour food while the oil is extensively used as a fragrance component in body care products and in insect repellents.

Lemongrass Essential Oil Properties

  • Helpful for oily skin and useful as a skin toner.
  • Has astringent, anti-septic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antiviral, fungicidal, deodorant, bactericidal and insecticidal properties.
  • Is beneficial for acne, athletes foot, perspiration and headaches.
  • Can cause sensitivity in some individuals.
  • Is a light yellow color and has a strong, fresh, grassy lemon scent with earthy undertones.
  • Blends nicely with citrus oils, spice oils, florals, basil, cedarwood, clary sage, fennel, marjoram, palmarosa, patchouli, pine, rosemary, tea tree, thyme and vetiver.
