Lavender essential oil is a versitile oil that makes wonderful lavender soap. It smells great on it's own as well as combined with other essential oils.

- its botanical name is lavandula officinalis.

- is often used for relieving depression, insomnia, headaches, nervous tension, pain, PMS and to disinfect the scalp and skin.

- its said to kill germs, help acne, eczema & dandruff.

- is useful as an insect repellant and to soothe insect bites and minor burns.

- great for healing cuts, wounds and sun damaged skin.

- if diluted, it is gentle enough for babies and has a soothing effect.

- is clear to light yellow in color and is usually steam distilled from the flowers of the plant.

- best to avoid during pregnancy.

- works very well in cold process soap making and is used often in lotions, gels, infusions and in aromatherapy.

- blends well with many other essential oils, including, all citrus & floral oils, as well as rosemary, pine & sage.
