Laundry Soap

Why will homemade soaps leave film or whites gray? What to do to wash the soap out of clothes?

Answer:

Try using vinegar in the rinse cycle. It is supposed to not only soften the clothes but to help to remove the residue of the soap.

Not sure what you can do to make the whites 'whiter' other than using bleach or other chemical whiteners.

Perhaps a reader has an idea.

Laundry Soap
by: Mary

I noticed that my clothes appeared a bit dingy using a "liquid" recipe. However, once I switched out to "dry powder", the dinginess disappeared and the recipe also seemed to work better overall. Not being a chemist, my guess is that the liquid version may cause the washing soda - borax to degrade before actual laundry usage. Hope this helps!
