Is it possible to substitute palm kernel oil for coconut oil?

I have one basic soap recipe I've used for years - palm oil, coconut oil, olive oil & a few tsp of castor & apricot or sweet almond. I had a very large tub of palm kernel given to me, but I've never know what to do with it. I make small batches - blender size.

How long does palm kernel oil last. I've had the tub for several years.

Answer:

You certainly can substitute palm kernel oil for coconut oil. Just remember to recalculate the lye amount needed.

I don't know how long palm kernel oil lasts but if it smells good, it should be fine.
