Food Colorants

Can food coloring be used as a colorant in hot process soaps?

Answer:

People have used food colouring in soap making but it doesn't alway provide the results you might want.

Cold and hot process soap making is a very unfriendly environment and some ingredients don't do too well in it. Food colouring can sometimes change colour...ie. blue comes out grey or greenish.

The dyes I have used in the past for cold process soap were food, drug and cosmetic approved and the ones that were the most successful were the yellow and the pink colours. The green and the blue didn't come out quite like I had hoped.
