Curing CPOP Soap

by Debbie

I've been trying out all of the different soap making processes and love them all. Im a little confused about CPOP.

When I checked the soap after I cut it (24 hours after removing it from the oven), I didn't get a zap from it and the PH level was 9.5.

Does that mean that there is no need to let the soap cure for the 3-4 week period? Is this just another form of HP?

Thanks for all of your help!

Answer:

This question is getting asked quite a bit lately and I've posted a link to my previous reply below.

I'm guessing that this method has been getting alot of attention in the forums lately?

As we get closer and closer to Christmas, quicker methods of getting our soaps ready becomes much more appealing.

I completely understand....time is so hard to come by these days.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any evidence that CPOP soaps are ready any faster than regular CP soaps.

Check out the link below for my previous reply to this question.

Cold Process/Oven Process

If anyone has any information supporting or refuting the ability to skip cure for CPOP...it would be greatly appreciated.

CPOP versus HP
by: Debbie

I read Cathy's post about cold process oven process (CPOP) soap making, and she suggested to make 2 batches of soap, and to do a comparison. I did that last night using the hot process method. I had done the CPOP a day before that. I didn't notice a difference in the feel of the soaps or any difference in the hardness. Since you do actually cook the soap (CPOP) using a low temperature, wouldn't this actually be another form of hot process soap making?

My curiosity is piqued.
