Creamy body mousse

by Michelle

Hi, I made your creamy body mousse.... I did not use the herbal infused grapseed oil but I did every thing else and the next day my lotion seperated... well I don't have steric acid, I have cetyl alcohol. Is that why it seperated? I do hear that the Optiphen can make lotion seperate. Help!

Thank You

Michelle

Answer:

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you if using Cetyl Alcohol instead of the Stearic Acid would change the result since I haven't tried it.

I can tell you that if you add the Optiphen too early, it may indeed seperate the mousse.

It is important to add the Optiphen when the lotion has cooled to a minimum of 140 degrees F / 60 degrees C. Go to an even lower temperature if you are still having troubles.

I have made this recipe many times and every time it turned out great but I haven't changed anything but the type of liquid oils..ie. the camellia oil and the grapeseed oil...and the scent of course.

Good luck,

Cathy
