Cooking oil vs Carrier oil?

by Vivian
(Vietnam)

In my country, cooking oil is rather cheaper than carrier oil. I read a lot but still don't understand if most of the mentioned oils in soap making are cooking oils or carrier oils. If it is a carrier oil, can I change to a cooking oil to make soap? Will the soap be worse or better than using carrier oil?

Thanks a lot.
Vivian.

Answer:

Carrier oil is cosmetic grade oil and cooking oil is food grade oil. At least that is my understanding.

I always buy my Olive oil and any other oil I want to try out from the grocery store. The oils I've bought have included Grapeseed oil, Rice Bran oil and Avocado Oil...If I like them and they are cheaper online then I will order from a supplier.

If you can get the oils cheaper at the grocery store then by all means do so. I don't think it will affect the quality of your soap at all.
