How does one achieve a white and hard soap?

Answer:

To make a soap white use the whitest oils you can...these include coconut oil, lard, tallow, shea butter. All other oils you use should be as clear and pale as possible. You can also use titanium dioxide to help to whiten up the soap.

As for making a soap hard...use oils that produce a hard soap. Coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, tallow will make hard bars of soap.

Soap Calc is a great tool for designing soap recipes. Each oil is listed showing the qualities that it will lend to a bar of soap. I use it to design all my soap recipes.

Good luck,
Cathy
