Color on fresh cut soap
by Anonymous
I just cut my soap after it sat for 24 hours and the inside is a redish color. I think it looks like a piece of medium rare meat. I added turmeric to my batch. Will the color change while it is curing?
Answer:Ingredients can often react with each other with sometimes surprising results.
That is why it is so important to do test batches and to take lots and lots of notes.
By doing this you can see what the results will be before using up too many expensive ingredients and the notes will enable you to either duplicate the results later or to avoid them.
The colour may change as the soap cures. Sometimes the exterior of the soap bar will be one colour and the inside will be another. I believe this has something to do with exposure to the air.
The outside of your now cut soaps will probably change but the inside may stay the same raw meat colour. This shouldn't be a problem since as people use the soap, it will constantly be exposed to the air and the user will probably never see the red colour.
Good luck,
Cathy
