Cider in place of water

by Anonymous

I have a request for a cider soap. My question is have you ever made a cider soap and should I mix the cider with the lye?

Thank you.

Answer:

I've not used cider before but I would do it exactly the same way as my Beer Soap Recipe.

It's a good idea to boil any alcoholic beverage to reduce the alcohol content. For carbonated beverages, let them go flat until there is no carbonation left. Both of these measures help reduce the risk of the lye going 'volcano' on you.

Good luck and let me know how it turns out,
Cathy

once it is flat, you can freeze the beer in ice cube trays, like some do when making milk soaps. I've done this with aloe vera juice and beer. I did not encounter any problems. I used beer in my shampoo bar, they came out great!
