How do you make black colored, cold process soap?

Answer:

I use black oxide to create a black soap. I used 1/2 teaspoon for 900 grams of base oils in the Sambuca Rose recipe pictured above.

I read that black soap was made by adding black oxide. I wish to know what is this black oxide and will this soap be suitable for washing dishes?

Answer:

Black soap can be made by adding black oxide which is available from most soap making suppliers.

Another method of making black soap is by adding activated charcoal to the soap. Charcoal is used because it is said to absorb odours and bacteria.

You ask if it is okay to use for washing dishes...I've never done so but as with all dish soaps, it is best to rinse your dishes to remove the soap before using them.
