Amount of orris root powder in E.O for fixative?

by Vahe

I just read your article about Essential Oils for Soap Making. I Wonder how much orris root powder should I use in essential oil for fixative results? And also let me know if it causes allergic reaction if used a lot? Also can I find this in grocery store?

Thank you for your help

Answer:

The orris root is added to the soap at a thin trace in amounts of approx. 1/2 tsp per pound of soap. You can add more but as you asked, it can be sensitizing in some individuals.

You will have to purchase it from a soap making supplier or perhaps a health food shop as it is not usually available from the grocery.
