Amount of honey in soap

Finally I made my first batch of C.P soap. It was cool and interesting . But I had few problems and questions on it.

When I place my soap into the mold and cover and close the box because I saw in all you tube video people do like that after 5 or 10 minutes the soap gets out of the box (the top of the box is closed). Why?

Let's say if I want to add milk and honey to my recipe and milk is thick like for normal drinking u should add 2 cups water to dilute it. I know for adding milk I should drop same amount of water.

Can I add a mixture of undiluted milk ,honey ,1oz grapes oil ,1oz almond oil and 3 tsp essential oil for super fatty goals in trace?

How much honey should I use for each pound?

I appreciate any help,

Thank you.

Answer:

Check out my page on Herbal Natural Soap Ingredients for the amount of honey to use.

How much milk, honey, almond oil, grape oil and essential oils to add to your recipe will depend on the recipe itself. You will have to calculate the amounts based on the size of the recipe you are using or trying to create.

You most certainly can replace some of (or all of) the water in your recipe with milk. Adding honey is fine. If you want to replace some of the base oils in your recipe with the grape and almond oils, that is ok too.

As for your first question...I don't understand what you are asking me about the soap going out of the box after 5 to 10 minutes. Sorry.

Visit my page detailing the instructions for making Cold Process Soap and read steps 5 and 6. Hopefully they contain the answer to your question.

Good luck,
Cathy

Sound like the soap was climbing out of the mould (box) because it got too hot.

Honey is the issue...that sugar heats up QUICKLY! I won't use more than 2 Tbl per 4 lb recipe. It is gorgeous in soap, once it hits the lye it is very pretty. But it needs a mold with a lot of surface area, think log mold...and don't cover it too tightly. It needs to breathe.
