Adding fruit at trace?

by Sammi

Hi i am quite new to soap making and i have made a few batches and now Im starting to think of my own concoctions and I was wondering what happened if you add mushed up fruit at trace/ Does it make the soap rot?

Great site by the way

Thanks

sammi

Answer:

It's not a good idea to add mushed up fruit at trace since the fruit will certainly start to rot.

If you want to add fruit and vegetable matter to soap you will need to puree it and replace a portion of the water with the puree.

Good luck,
Cathy

Citric acid??
by: sammi

Hi I have seen a few recipes that add banana at trace but they also add citric acid does this act to preserve the soap or are they going to have 10 bars of moult soap in a couple of months?

Answer:

I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I've never heard of adding citric acid to a batch of soap.
