A CRUNCHY SOAP

A CRUNCHY SOAP

I put some oils such as: (olive oil, palm oil, grape seed oil, soy oil)mixed with Lye. For your info my Lye content : (distilled water and frozen goat milk, I put together and then caustic soda).
I mixed it until I got trace and pour it into the mold. But when I cut it the soap seems too dried and seems less oils. So, what happened with those ingredients?

Have you ever has the same problem?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Answer:

It's hard to tell from the photo but a couple of things can cause soap to have a dry brittle effect.

Too much lye in the recipe, hard water used in the lye solution or the soap batter wasn't actually at trace when it was poured into the soap mold.

Properly made soap cuts like cheese or fudge.

Check your recipe for correctness and see if your water is hard or not. Then when you make soap next time make sure you have reached a full trace before you pour the soap into the mold.

Good luck and keep trying,
Cathy
